Online learning and teaching has gone through a rapid and ongoing metamorphosis since the first computer assisted class was taught at Michigan State University in 1992 (a long time in the chronology of the online environment). The term 'collaborative learning', a current buzz word in online learning, may have first been used in a paper titled Collaborative Learning Through Computer Conferencing [ Wikipedia ].
